This year, we decided to stick with our adventurous, Valentine's theme and explore the Little Lake Creek Wilderness, in the Sam Houston National Forest.
1. Creeks and streams on a map will always be blue, even if in reality they're completely dried up.
2. Water beetles and bugs are a real thing and I wouldn't suggest drinking the water they inhabit.
3. The art of listening is important. Topher and I ended up going about 2 miles in the wrong direction because one of us, (I wont say who...) insisted we go THAT way. Listen and always check your route with a compass.
We're still a little new to Texas backpacking, but we're quickly learning what not to do and how to cope with the challenges of this dry, hot wilderness.
Can't wait to get out again!
